First Light designs and leads small group and private photography tours in Sri Lanka for photographers and photography enthusiasts of all skill levels. From expansive landscapes and intimate cultural moments to sacred rituals, wildlife, and street life, each journey is structured around your specific photographic interests.

Led by an experienced Sri Lankan photographer with an intimate knowledge of the island, every tour provides the personalised guidance and logistical support needed to build a rich body of work from one of Asia’s most photographically rewarding destinations.

Our Founder and Lead Photographer

Johann Latiff is a Sri Lankan photographer and Creative Director with over three decades of experience in marketing and communications. In 2018, he turned his passion for photography into something more — founding The Streets of Colombo Collective, a group dedicated to nurturing and promoting street and documentary photography in Sri Lanka.

Today, SOC is one of the country’s most active photography communities, organising photo walks, exhibitions, and workshops throughout the island. Johann’s knowledge of local culture and customs, along with his longstanding relationships with the communities and places that make the island extraordinary to photograph, is what distinguishes a First Light tour from any other.
